Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to Switzerland, H.E. Ambassador Lansana Gberie, recently met with the Chief of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), Ms. Fenger, to discuss strategies for improving reproductive and maternal health in the country.

The meeting focused on addressing gender-based violence, eliminating harmful practices, empowering communities, and advancing data-driven policies to enhance maternal health outcomes.

The discussions underscored the importance of collaboration between the Sierra Leonean government and international organizations like UNFPA in tackling the country’s maternal health challenges. With UNFPA’s support, Sierra Leone aims to expand access to reproductive health services, reduce maternal mortality, and empower women and girls.

The partnership between Sierra Leone and UNFPA is expected to make a significant impact on the health and well-being of the country’s population, particularly women and girls.

The Sierra Leone Mission to the United Nations and other international organizations in Geneva is committed to continuing cooperation with UNFPA to advance the country’s development agenda.

This collaboration underscores the shared commitment to making meaningful progress in the lives of Sierra Leoneans. By leveraging their expertise and resources, the government and UNFPA can drive positive change and improve the health and well-being of the population.

In conclusion, the meeting represents a pivotal step toward achieving Sierra Leone’s development goals and fostering a healthier, more prosperous future for all its citizens. With continued support and partnership, Sierra Leone can overcome its maternal health challenges and achieve lasting progress.
