Victor Koroma, a 55-year-old driver, has been sentenced to five years in prison at the male correctional facility in Freetown after being convicted on a charge of Larceny contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act 1916.
According to the particulars of the offence, on Wednesday, 20 August 2025, at 8 Jordan Drive, off Lumley in the Western Area of Freetown, Koroma stole aBajaj motorbike with registration number AXD 509, valued at 33,608 Leones. The motorbike belonged to Abu Marrah.
When the charge was read and explained to Koroma, he pleaded not guilty.
The prosecution presented the facts of the case, including the convict’s criminal record. In mitigation, Koroma pleaded for mercy. However, after hearing both the prosecution and the defense, Magistrate Jah decided against imposing an alternative sentence. He noted that Koroma was not a first-time offender. The convict had previously served an eight-year sentence for other offences, but was released during a prison break. He remained on the run until he was apprehended for this latest offence.
Magistrate Jah stated that, considering the convict’s criminal history, he was inclined to impose a custodial sentence. As a result, Koroma was sentenced to five years imprisonment at the male correctional facility in Freetown.
