It was a thrilling day of youth football action at the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) Academy Field in Freetown as Hada FC were officially crowned Champions of the FIFA Technical Development Scheme (TDS) U18 League title on Saturday, 25th October 2025.
Hada FC sealed their U18 championship win following a hard-fought 1–0 victory over Ports Authority, capping off an impressive campaign that showcased the club’s growing dominance at the youth level. In the U15 category, Western United were confirmed as champions after holding runners-up Hada FC to a goalless draw in a tense final-day encounter.
The matches attracted hundreds of passionate football fans from across Freetown and other regions, turning the SLFA Academy Field into a true festival of youth football and community spirit.
Representing the SLFA President and Executive Committee, Vice President II, Prince Saquee, presided over the medal and trophy presentation ceremony, commending the young players for their discipline, commitment, and technical progress throughout the competition.
The FIFA Talent Development Scheme (TDS) is part of a global initiative aimed at providing every Member Association (MA) with the necessary resource, expertise, training, education, and funding to enhance talent identification and development. It is designed to bridge the gap between less competitive and highly competitive football nations, ensuring that no potential star goes unnoticed.
In Sierra Leone, the TDS has already begun to make a significant impact on youth football. It has provided structured opportunities for young players to train under professional conditions, given local coaches access to advanced training methodologies, and encouraged clubs to prioritize grassroots development. The initiative is steadily helping to build a stronger foundation for the future of Sierra Leonean football, ensuring that the next generation of players is better prepared for both domestic and international competition.
The 2025 TDS youth tournaments will officially conclude on Sunday, October 26, with the remaining fixtures bringing the curtain down on what has been an inspiring season for the country’s emerging football talents.
