A fatal road crash in Njagbema Town, Nimikoro Chiefdom, Kono District, has claimed the life of Abubakarr Fengai, a former resident of Njagbema Town. Sergeant Amara B., the NCO of the Traffic Division at Motema Police Station in Nimikoro Chiefdom, confirmed the incident in an interview with our reporter.
The fatal crash occurred when the deceased, who was riding a motorbike, was struck from behind by an unknown rider. After the collision, the motorbike rider fled the scene, and the deceased fell to the ground. Tragically, the man was then hit by a vehicle with the registration number AKU 998, driven by Sulaiman Sesay, who is reportedly the deceased’s first cousin.
Sergeant Amara B. further noted that while the unknown motorbike rider, who was the primary cause of the crash, continues to evade justice, Sulaiman Sesay voluntarily reported himself to the Motema Police Traffic Division. He confessed to driving into the motorbike rider at Njagbema Town.
The remains of the deceased were later transferred to the Koidu Government Hospital Mortuary for a postmortem examination. The driver, Sulaiman Sesay, is currently in police custody and assisting with the ongoing investigation.
In a related incident, Komba Perry Nyandebo of Tankoro, Koidu City, was involved in another road crash. Nyandebo, while driving a Land Rover vehicle with registration number AWW 885, reportedly struck and knocked down an eight-year-old boy, identified as Abubakarr Morie, who was riding a bicycle.
The incident occurred just after the exit gate of the Koidu Government Hospital. The remains of the young boy have already been laid to rest, and police investigations into this case are ongoing.
