Adamsay Fofanah, a housemaid, made her first appearance before Magistrate Augustine Brima Samura at Pademba Road Court No. 8, facing a charge of fraudulent conversion, contrary to Section 20(iv)(a) of the Larceny Act 1916.

According to the particulars of the offence, on Saturday, 4th October 2025, at Regent Road, Lumley, in the Western Area, Fofanah allegedly fraudulently converted to her own use the sum of Sixty Thousand Leones (60,000) that was entrusted to her by Sallay Conteh for safekeeping.

When the charge was read and explained to the defendant, no plea was taken.

The accused was not legally represented. The prosecutor, Detective Police Constable 14898 Joseph Lamin Dumbuya, informed the court that the defendant had been served according to the provisions of the new Criminal Procedure Act.

Magistrate Samura refused bail, citing the seriousness of the offence, and ordered that Fofanah be remanded at the female correctional facility in Freetown. The matter has been adjourned to 27th October 2025.
