Suliaman Bangura, a 37-year-old businessman, made another appearance before Magistrate John Manso Fornah of Pademba Road Court No. 2 in Freetown, facing a charge of Receiving Stolen Goods, contrary to Section 33(1) of the Larceny Act of 1916.
According to the particulars of the offence, between 1st and 15th January 2025, at Belgium, Lightfoot Boston Street, in the Western Area of Freetown, Bangura allegedly received the following stolen items: one Samsung Z Fold 5 mobile phone, one iPhone 13 Pro Max, a Dell laptop, and other assorted items. The total value of the stolen goods amounted to Le 100,140, belonging to Mohamed Samuka Konuwa. It is alleged that Bangura knew the items were stolen at the time he received them.
When the charge was read and explained to the defendant, he pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Deputy Superintendent of Police Sorie Conteh, requested a short adjournment to present his next witness.
Meanwhile, I. Smith Esq., counsel for the defendant, renewed and adopted his previous bail application on behalf of Bangura.
Magistrate Fornah granted bail to the defendant in the sum of Le 100,000 with a surety in a like amount. The surety must be a resident of Freetown and must present a valid identity card that shows their address within Freetown. The bail will be approved by the Deputy Assistant Registrar.
The case has been adjourned to 27th October 2025 for further proceedings.
