SIX PLAYERS JET IN AHEAD OF BENIN CRUCIAL TIE

Sierra Leone National team, Leone Stars is set to welcome the Squirrels of Benin in the 151 African Cup of Nations qualifiers in Freetown on the 14th June 2021.

John Keister who is the head coach alongside his Technical team has received a big boost ahead of the crucial tie against the Squirrels of Benin.

 Six professional players plying their trade in Europe have arrived in Freetown ahead of Sierra Leone Africa Cup of Nation scheduled on the 14th June at the Siaka Stevens Stadium in Freetown.

Two players who are hoping to make their debut. One of them is Sullay Kai Kai, playing professional football in England for Blackpool in the Championship.

The other debutant is Idriss Kanu playing professional football in England for Petersborough. He is among the six players already in Freetown.

It is the first time both players will be representing Sierra Leone, if selected in coach John Keister`s final selection for this month`s qualifier.

Another set of players are the two twins Alusine and Alusine Koroma the former Marampa Stars and East End Lions Strikers playing their  professional football in Spain for Real Balompedica Linense.

Osman Kakay who is playing professional football in England for (Queens Park Rangers) is also among the called up players.

 The other called up player is Alhaji Kamara who is playing professional football in Denmark for Randers and he is the player that scored two goals for Leone Stars against Nigeria.

All the above players are set to join the 20 local base players that have been invited to resume training since the start of this week.

According to the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) the abandon match between Sierra Leone has been scheduled to take place this month but they are yet to communicate a final correspondence from the Organizing Committee, whether the match will be played in Freetown or on a neutral turf.

Sierra Leone needs a win if they are to make it to the African Cup of Nations to be hosted in Cameroon next year in January 2022.

Sierra Leone has missed out from the biggest African show piece for 25 years. 

While the Squirrels of Benin just need a draw to qualify. Sierra Leone must secure a convincing win to make it to Cameroun.
