Chief Justice Honoured for Commitment to Justice and Rule Of Law

Judges’ Room, Siaka Stevens Street, Freetown, 7th October 2025 Sierra Leone’s Chief Justice, Honourable Justice Komba Kamanda, has been recognized for his unwavering commitment to upholding the principles of justice and the rule of law in the country.

As Chairman of the ECOWAS Judicial Council and the first Sierra Leonean to hold this prestigious position, Hon. Chief Justice Kamanda’s influence has extended beyond Sierra Leone’s borders. His efforts have earned him both regional and international recognition, particularly for his advocacy of judicial reforms within the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

The citation accompanying the award reads: “This certificate of merit is presented in recognition of his steadfast commitment to upholding the principles of justice and promoting the rule of law.”

Upon accepting the award, Hon. Chief Justice Kamanda reaffirmed his dedication to upholding the Constitution and ensuring that justice is administered fairly, efficiently, and accessibly to all who come before the Court.

Speaking on behalf of the presenting organization, Olabisie Kaiyindae, representative of the Judicial Forum for Justice and Development (JFJD) from Nigeria, expressed gratitude to Hon. Chief Justice Kamanda for granting them the opportunity to present the certificate of recognition.
