Moris Sillah, a student, appeared before Magistrate John Manso Fornah at Pademba Road Court No. 2 in Freetown, facing two charges related to the possession and dealing of prohibited drugs.

The charges against Sillah include dealing in a prohibited drug without lawful authority, contrary to Section 7(b) of the National Drug Control Act 2008, Act No. 10 of 2008, and possession of a prohibited drug without lawful authority, contrary to Section 8(a) of the same Act.

According to the particulars of the offense, on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at #9 Second Street, Mountain Cut in the Western Area of Freetown, Sillah was accused of dealing in prohibited drugs without lawful authority. The second count further stated that, on the same date and location, the defendant was found in possession of a loose quantity of Kush, a prohibited drug, without lawful authority.

When the charges were read and explained to the defendant, no plea was taken.

Assistant Superintendent of Police Isatu Baba Musa led prosecution witness number three, Sergeant 9891 Peter Kaitibie, who is attached to the Waterloo Police Station. Sergeant Kaitibie recognized the defendant and recalled that, on August 14, 2025, he was on duty at the Eastern Police Station when he received information that the defendant was in possession of a quantity of Kush. Acting on this information, he led a team of police officers to the specified address, where they arrested Sillah and seized the suspected drugs. The defendant was then taken to the police station, along with the seized substance, and handed over for further investigation.

The witness was cross-examined by A.A. Bangura Esq. during the hearing.

Magistrate Fornah, after considering the seriousness of the charges, denied bail to the defendant. The case has been adjourned to October 14, 2025, for further proceedings.
