The Regional Police Commander South, Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Andrew Mustapha Kamara, made a surprise operational visit to the Mano River Division on Saturday, 4th October 2025. During his unannounced visit, AIG Kamara delivered an inspiring message focused on discipline, teamwork, and professional excellence.

AIG Kamara’s first engagement was with checkpoint personnel, where he emphasized the critical importance of vigilance, professionalism, and dedication to duty. He reminded the officers that checkpoint operations are a vital component of border policing and urged them to refine their search techniques while maintaining the highest standards of discipline and respect for human rights.

The Regional Commander’s next stop was at the Customs Post located at the Sierra Leone–Liberia border, where he held an interactive session with the joint security team, comprising officers from the Police, Immigration, Customs, and the Military. During the engagement, AIG Kamara emphasized that the success of border security operations hinges on unity and effective collaboration among all security agencies.

“I have followed your good work on social media, not knowing I would one day be transferred here as your Regional Commander,” AIG Kamara remarked. “Now that I am here, I need teamwork. The word ‘fail’ does not exist in my leadership vocabulary, and I will not fail the people of the South.”

AIG Kamara also made a courtesy visit to the Zimmi Checkpoint, where he encouraged officers to sustain their vigilance and maintain operational synergy with other security units. He reiterated that discipline and teamwork are the cornerstones of effective policing and warned that any officer who fails to align with these values would have no place under his command.

In response, the Local Unit Commander (LUC) of the Mano River Division, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Junusa Ben Mohamed, known as Abacha, expressed his gratitude for AIG Kamara’s leadership and proactive engagement.

“Your visit has reignited motivation within our ranks,” CSP Mohamed said. “We are committed to translating your directives into tangible results.”

The meeting, held at the Mano River Division Hall, was attended by representatives from the Police and other security sectors. Customs Manager Mr. Mujiru Kallon also commended AIG Kamara for his leadership and assured him of continued collaboration in safeguarding the nation’s borders, combating smuggling, and addressing transnational crimes.

Accompanying AIG Kamara was the Regional Coordinator of the Operations Support Division (OSD) South, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Hilton Lahai, who provided armed personnel and coordinated logistical support for the visit.

The unannounced visit has been widely described as both inspirational and timely, reinforcing AIG Kamara’s reputation as a results-driven leader who values performance, accountability, and teamwork. Personnel of the Mano River Division have expressed renewed determination to meet his expectations and uphold the core values of the Sierra Leone Police.
