Dr. Lansana Gberie, Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to Switzerland, is making significant strides in advancing the global fight against inequality.
A seasoned diplomat with over 20 years of experience, Ambassador Gberie has played a pivotal role in promoting Sierra Leone’s interests and values on the world stage. His distinguished career includes six years as a United Nations official* and leadership positions in several international forums.
Ambassador Gberie has served as Chair of the Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS) Council and President of the Arms Trade Treaty. Currently, he holds the position of Chairperson of the International Organization for Migration’s (IOM) Governing Bureau, a role to which he was unanimously elected in November 2022.
Renowned for his commitment to human rights, rule of law, and good governance, Ambassador Gberie has earned global recognition for his contributions to international diplomacy. His efforts have played a significant role in elevating Sierra Leone’s influence on the world stage.
As Co-Chair of the Global Alliance Against Inequality, Ambassador Gberie is uniquely positioned to lead discussions on policies aimed at addressing inequality and promoting more inclusive, equitable societies worldwide.
