By Dadson A. Musa

He has been a revelation in Sierra Leone football and has been quick to make his mark in the football scene. He might have had his two shorlived sojourn to Europe and making swift come-back to Sierra Leone that perplexed many Sierra Leoneans.

There were rumours of him wanting to commit suicide; and we were told that government played a huge part in consoling him. Whatever was behind those early returns will be revealed to us later.

He is tall and has physical fitness which is his asset.  His reception and control of the ball is wonderful. He does not dribble too much but rather makes purposeful and timely passes. He is quick and clever with the ball and knows how to hold on the ball. He has an eye for goal-scoring. He is very business-like once he gets involved with play. His style reminds me of George Opong Weah, now President of Liberia in his playing days. Musa Tombo is fearless once he gets the ball and one of the coaches of Bo rangers told me that the attacker intimidates defenders with his pace and drive for goal. He was the highest goal-scorer last premier league and this season he has kept scoring and making assists for crucial goals to be scored.

He plays for a high spending football club. My fear is the over reliance on him to do all the goal scoring. Bo Rangers FC is playing well at the moment but they are not scoring too many goals and they hardly concede themselves. They should do all they could to create more scorers as a team thrives when they fire from all cylinders.

Even their defenders must be seen to be scoring as they should try to take the keen attention off Musa Tombo. It is a tactic which if adopted will help the team in future and confuse their opponents as to who is going to score or who will not. So if they over rely on him now, what if he gets injured or falls sick.

For now he plays every game and has not disappointed his fans and coaches.  But in as much as he plays with the team, the team should also play around him as a key player and a goal-getter. He is still very young and has a long way to go so only time will tell how far he will go at the international stage.
