In a significant boost to Sierra Leone’s economic prospects, Chief Minister Dr. David Moininah Sengeh highlighted the strengthening partnership between Sierra Leone and the United States, especially in investment and development sectors.
Speaking during a meeting with U.S. officials, Sengeh emphasized a shared vision of mutual respect and collaboration. Accompanied by the Minister of Finance and Ms. Ndeye-Fatu Koroma from Sierra Leone’s Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Compact team, he engaged with technical leads from the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) and the State Department. The discussions focused on solidifying investments in critical sectors such as infrastructure, energy, and minerals, which are vital for the nation’s growth.
“Under President Bio’s leadership, Sierra Leone ranks third globally as one of the largest recipients of U.S. DFC investments per capita,” Sengeh stated. He expressed a strong commitment to further enhancing this status by creating a more favorable environment for foreign investments that align with the country’s development goals.
The Chief Minister pointed to ongoing projects like Nant Energy, Lungi Airport, and Africell as examples of successful collaborations already making a positive impact. These initiatives not only strengthen infrastructure but also generate jobs and stimulate economic activity, supporting the government’s objectives for sustainable growth.
