Aftermath of SLFA Congress: NGC Strongman Commends SLPP’s Handling of Sports

Manager of East End Tigers, Victor Lewis who was one of the campaigners for Dr.Kandeh Yumkella’s National Grand Coalition party (NGC) has commended the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) government saying they have done well in terms of promoting football in the country.

He said there is political will, confessing that so much has been done for the game under the current president.

He called on the government to continue to provide support to the Premier League teams noting that the financial supports they are receiving from the government are putting them in the right footing to promote soccer in the country.

He expressed the need for the country to make good use of the new President as well as the out gone Isha Johansen who has connections at FIFA.

Mr Lewis spoke about the need for peace and sanity to reign within the football family, now that the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has got a new president in the person of Thomas Daddy Brima. 

The SLFA congress over the weekend in Makeni has been acclaimed as one of the best peacefully conducted election the association has ever had. Emerging victorious with 31 votes, Thomas Daddy Brima has promised to unify the football family. He said there is urgent need for a peace retreat so that stakeholders will chat the way forward for everlasting peace and harmony. ” I will play by the rules and respect the constitution”, he assured stakeholders adding that his  dream is to take Leone Stars to the Nation’s Cup.
