SEND Sierra Leone has convened management-level staff from its operational districts in Freetown for a four-day capacity-building training program, with support from Trócaire and the European Union.

The training aims to enhance staff competencies across key thematic areas critical to the organization’s mission, including governance, gender equality, climate resilience, sustainable development, education, health, and water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH).

Central to the program are sessions on decolonial approaches to development, ethics and professionalism, strategic planning, and evidence-based program implementation. By equipping staff with these essential skills and perspectives, SEND seeks to build stronger internal leadership, promote collaboration, and improve service delivery across its initiatives.

“Together, we are driving positive growth and advancing inclusive, innovative, and sustainable development nationwide,” a SEND representative stated.

This initiative reflects SEND Sierra Leone’s belief that investing in its people is essential to achieving long-term organizational goals and driving transformative change in the communities they serve.

The training is designed to empower staff not only as implementers but also as leaders and advocates for change, capable of addressing local challenges with informed, community-centered solutions.

As the sessions continue, participants are expected to gain valuable insights that will enhance their effectiveness in the field, ensuring that programs have a meaningful and measurable impact on the lives of Sierra Leoneans.

This effort underscores SEND Sierra Leone’s enduring commitment to community empowerment and the development of a skilled, responsive workforce prepared to tackle the country’s most pressing development issues.
