Under the leadership of Executive Director Dr. Daniel B. Kaitibi, the Sierra Leone Maritime Administration (SLMA) has secured a 55% score in the Mid-Term Performance Evaluation conducted by the Ministry of Transport and Aviation. This achievement places SLMA in 2nd position among the seven key agencies under the Ministry.
The assessment was based on five key performance criteria Policy Strategy and Legislative Support– 20%, Service Delivery – 15%, Institutional Administration and Management – 15%, Financial Stewardship – 30% and Accountability and Corruption Eradication – 15%
SLMA’s performance across these categories earned it a commendable score, reflecting growing improvements in institutional management and service delivery.
According to Morgan, the Assistant Director of Transport, some agencies received lower scores due to incomplete documentation and failure to meet reporting deadlines. He emphasized that timely submission of required materials is crucial for higher performance scores.
Dr. Kaitibi credited the SLMA staff for their dedication and teamwork in achieving this result.
“We could not have reached this 2nd position without the cooperation and commitment of the staff in meeting the set targets,” he stated.
He further emphasized that the institution’s target is to clinch the 1st position in the next Mid-Term Performance Evaluation,” Dr. Kaitibi reiterated. “We will continue to work diligently to ensure that SLMA leads all agencies under the Ministry in the next performance review.” He said.
