On Wednesday August 13, 2025, President Julius Maada Bio hosted a farewell ceremony at State House for His Excellency Seyed Khalil Sadati Amiri, the outgoing Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Sierra Leone.
The event served as a reflection of the strong diplomatic ties and successful cooperation established between Sierra Leone and Iran during Ambassador Amiri’s tenure.
In his address, President Bio expressed his deep gratitude for the ambassador’s efforts in strengthening bilateral relations, saying, “On behalf of the people of Sierra Leone, I would like to warmly express our deepest appreciation for the fruitful cooperation we’ve enjoyed between our countries.” This statement underscored Sierra Leone’s commitment to fostering international partnerships that promote mutual growth and understanding.
The ceremony also provided an opportunity to reflect on the various collaborative projects and initiatives undertaken during Ambassador Amiri’s time in Sierra Leone, especially in sectors such as education, health, and infrastructure. The President emphasized that such projects had positively impacted the country and contributed to its development.
President Bio further stressed the importance of maintaining and deepening the relationship between the two nations for continued mutual benefit. In a warm gesture, he extended an invitation to Ambassador Amiri to visit Sierra Leone again in the future, signaling the country’s eagerness to continue dialogue and cooperation with Iran.
As Ambassador Amiri prepares to conclude his assignment, the farewell ceremony not only marked the end of an important diplomatic chapter but also set the stage for future collaborations aimed at advancing Sierra Leone’s socio-economic landscape.
