A 55-year-old man, John Sesay, and his 19-year-old son, John Alfred Sesay, have been remanded in custody after making their first appearance before Magistrate Mamakoh Sao Kallon at Pademba Road Court No. 3 in Freetown. The pair face charges relating to assault and malicious property damage.

Both accused were charged with two counts of assault, contrary to Section 46 of the Offences Against the Person Act of 1861, and one count of malicious damage, contrary to Section 51 of the Malicious Damage Act of 1861.

According to police, on Monday, July 21, 2025, at No. 11 Priscilla Street, Freetown, the two accused allegedly attacked one Aziz Alhassan Turay, inflicting bodily harm. They are also accused of damaging the victim’s black prescription eyeglasses, valued at $300 (approximately Le7,110).

No plea was taken during the court proceedings.

The prosecutor, Police Constable 15098 M.A. Sesay, informed the court that he had just received the case file and that there were no witnesses available for the day’s hearing.

In response, Magistrate Kallon ordered that both accused be remanded at the Male Correctional Centre in Freetown. The matter was then adjourned to August 8, 2025, for further hearing.
