Journalist Installed As Regent Chief

 The Provincial Administration in the Southern Region has installed a journalist, Sociologist and Entrepreneur, John Abu as the Regent Chief or care taker of Kpandakemoh Chiefdom in Bonthe District. 

 He was in an upbeat mood after his installation ceremony which attracted high profiled dignitaries across the country, particularly indigenes of the chiefdom.

 Speaking to this medium, Chief Abu said that his installing as care taker came as a result of the demise of the paramount chief of Kpandakemoh Chiefdom, PC Madam May Rose Gberie, who died in October 2020.

He said that government has the responsibility to appoint a care taker until election is conducted in order to have a substantive paramount chief. 

Chief Abu described his feelings “my installation as a care is a remarkable day for me, as it is a huge opportunity for him as among thousands of people he has being appointed to act in that capacity until election is conducted in the chiefdom.’’

“This is highly appreciated and I want to thank the government for the confidence reposed in me to be at the helm of affairs in the chiefdom tentatively. I will measure up to the expectations of the people and the government, he stated

He continued that he is a change agent, who can bring a positive and desirable changein thechiefdom much to the admiration of the people and the government.

Chief Abu called on the people of the chiefdom to join him bring more development into the chiefdom, whiles noting that he cannot succeed without the support and cooperation of the people.

He however said that he was happy to see the people in a jubilant mood during  his installation as care taker, which according to him, is a clear testimony that the people are ready to work with him diligently to achieve his goal.

Chief Abu revealed that he will adequately respond to the challenges that he might face while taking care of the chiefdom.

He noted that he likes to be in the rural community and that he is presently pursuing his masters in Rural Sociology at Njala University to enable him to bring more positive and desirable change in that social system, adding that being a change agent there is a need to stay with the people to effect the change they desire for the overall development of the chiefdom and by extension the country as a whole.

Chief Abu said that if everybody goes to the city, who will bring development in the rural areas and that it is important to know that the urban areas rely on the rural community for development.

He concluded by sending a message of hope and further expressed confidence that they will see the change that they desire in their villages that are so underdeveloped.
