In its continued effort to support public health initiatives, ActionAid Sierra Leone has provided essential Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) materials to the Bo District Health Management Team (DHMT) and the District Incident Management System (IMS) to help prevent the spread of Mpox in the district.

The donation, which includes hygiene and sanitation supplies, is aimed at strengthening hand hygiene practices in public spaces, communities, and healthcare facilities across Bo District. This initiative is part of a broader public health response to the Mpox outbreak that has raised concern in parts of Sierra Leone.

In addition to IPC materials, ActionAid also provided fuel support to enhance the ongoing active case search exercise, a critical activity for the early detection and response to suspected Mpox cases.

A representative of the Bo DHMT and IMS, who received the items, expressed gratitude for the support and highlighted its importance in bolstering local response efforts.

“We extend our heartfelt thanks to ActionAid Sierra Leone for their continued commitment to public health. This timely contribution significantly boosts our district’s ability to respond effectively and supports national efforts to contain the Mpox threat,” the representative stated.

The support from ActionAid reflects the importance of multi-stakeholder collaboration in managing public health emergencies and reinforces the need for community engagement in disease prevention and control.

The Bo DHMT and IMS reaffirmed their commitment to protecting the health and well-being of residents and urged the public to maintain proper hygiene practices, stay informed through verified health channels and report any suspected Mpox symptoms to the nearest health facility.

As Mpox continues to pose a public health challenge, such interventions remain vital in building local capacity and strengthening the healthcare system’s readiness to respond to outbreaks.
