Three men Anthony Kamara (20), a carpenter; Alusine Sesay (25), a labourer; and Josephus Mansaray (25), also a labourer have been committed to the High Court for trial on allegations of conspiracy and theft at the LEOCEM Cement Factory in Cline Town, Freetown.

The accused appeared before Magistrate Augustine Brima Samura at Pademba Road Magistrate Court No. 8, facing two counts: Conspiracy to commit a crime, contrary to law, and Store Breaking and Larceny, contrary to Section 26(1) of the Larceny Act of 1916.

According to the prosecution, on May 27, 2025, at LEOCEM Cement Factory, located on Bett Street, Kanikay, Cline Town, the three accused, along with others unknown, conspired to unlawfully enter the factory’s lubricant store with the intent to steal.

The second count alleges that the accused broke into the lubricant store and stole 208 litres of CLP Oil, 180 litres of EP2 Oil and 208 litres of 15W40 oil.

The total value of the stolen items is estimated at Sixty-Two Thousand Seven Hundred and Ninety-Eight Leones (Le 62,798.00) all property of LEOCEM Cement Factory.

When the charges were read and explained in court, no plea was taken from the accused.

Detective Police Constable 14898 Joseph Lamin Dumbuya, the prosecuting officer, led five witnesses, including both formal and factual witnesses. Exhibits were tendered as part of the prosecution’s evidence.

Delivering his ruling, Magistrate Samura stated that the prosecution had presented sufficient evidence to warrant committal to the High Court for further trial.

The accused were not granted bail and were remanded at the Male Correctional Centre in Freetown pending their appearance before the High Court.
