A 27-year-old electrician, Junisa Jones, has been sentenced to eighteen months imprisonment by Magistrate John Manso Fornah at the Pademba Road Court No.2 in Freetown. He was convicted on two counts: Conspiracy to Commit a Crime, contrary to law, and Larceny, contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916.
According to court records, on 5th March 2025, at 14 Dillet Street, in the Western Area of Freetown, Jones conspired with unknown individuals to commit larceny. On the same date and at the same location, he was found to have stolen a high-powered electrical cable valued at thirty thousand Leones (Le 30,000), the property of one Sharlla Palmar.
When the charges were read and explained to him, the accused pleaded guilty.
Prosecuting officer, Sergeant 3379 Ballay T, informed the court that the accused had no prior criminal record. The accused, who was not legally represented, appealed to the Magistrate to exercise leniency.
In his ruling, Magistrate Fornah considered the fact that the accused was a first-time offender and had not wasted the court’s time by pleading guilty. Consequently, he sentenced Jones to eighteen months imprisonment at the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown. The sentence is to be served in full, starting from the date the case was first brought before the court.
