Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to The Gambia, Her Excellency Martha Kanagbo, recently held a strategic meeting with Mr. Fevzi Orak, Chief Executive Officer of Enterprise Fertilizer Factory, to explore potential collaboration aimed at enhancing Sierra Leone’s agricultural productivity through improved fertilizer supply.

During the meeting, Mr. Orak a seasoned Turkish chemical engineer and entrepreneur expressed strong interest in establishing a partnership with the Government of Sierra Leone to supply high-quality fertilizers. His company, headquartered in Turkey, currently distributes its products across North Africa, the Middle East, the Balkans, Europe, and more recently, The Gambia.

Mr. Orak expressed his willingness to travel to Freetown to engage in direct discussions with the Minister of Agriculture and other key stakeholders. The goal, he noted, is to explore how his company can contribute to bridging the fertilizer gap in Sierra Leone and supporting national efforts to increase crop yields and food production.

Ambassador Kanagbo emphasized that agriculture remains a critical national priority for Sierra Leone, especially in the quest for food security and sustainable development. She acknowledged the importance of fertilizer as a key input in boosting agricultural productivity and welcomed Mr. Orak’s proposal as a timely opportunity to support the government’s development agenda.

“This potential collaboration aligns well with Sierra Leone’s commitment to improving food security and modernizing the agriculture sector,” she said.

Ambassador Kanagbo further encouraged relevant authorities in Sierra Leone, particularly the Ministry of Agriculture, to seize this opportunity and engage with Enterprise Fertilizer Factory in exploring mutually beneficial arrangements.

If successful, the partnership could pave the way for a reliable and sustainable fertilizer supply chain, supporting the nation’s farmers and contributing to economic resilience through agriculture.
