The Bo City Council (BCC) has officially launched the full-scale rehabilitation of the old City Council Hall located on Coronation Field Road in Bo. The renovation project is being funded by the Government of Sierra Leone and aims to restore the historic structure to modern standards.

According to Henry Powell, Chief Administrator of the Bo City Council, the project began in July 2025 and is expected to be completed within 12 months. He stated that the initiative follows persistent appeals from residents for the restoration of the landmark facility, which has long served as a center for civic activities.

Four construction companies have been contracted to handle different components of the project:

Val Construction Company is tasked with rehabilitating the main hall.

Nationwide Construction Company is responsible for the administrative building.

Demba Construction Company will undertake perimeter fencing and pavement works.

Sulish Enterprise has been awarded the contract to supply new furniture.

“This is an investment in the future of Bo,” said CA Powell. “The renovated facility will not only serve the public more effectively but also generate revenue for the council through rentals and community events.”

Powell praised the leadership of Mayor Kobba Musa, describing him as a key driving force behind the project. “The Mayor is pushing for timely delivery, and we are all working diligently to meet the 12-month deadline,” he affirmed.

The Chief Administrator also emphasized that the rehabilitation is part of a broader development agenda designed to improve service delivery and infrastructure throughout Bo. “This is just one of several upcoming initiatives aimed at transforming the city,” he noted.

Powell called on residents to support the project by protecting materials and equipment at the site. “Theft or vandalism will only delay progress. We urge everyone to be vigilant and help safeguard what belongs to the community,” he appealed.

Once completed, the renovated Bo City Council Hall is expected to regain its role as a central hub for official functions, civic engagement, and public events, while also serving as a source of local pride.
