A 31-year-old mason, Ibrahim Kamara, has been sentenced to eight months imprisonment after pleading guilty to a charge of larceny before Magistrate Augustine Brima Samura at Pademba Road Court No. 8 in Freetown.

Kamara was charged with one count of larceny, contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916.

According to the particulars of the offence, on Saturday, 17th May 2025, at Plum Heath, Hill Station, in the Mountain Rural District, Western Area, Freetown, Kamara stole fifteen full-length 5/8 iron rods and nineteen zinc roofing sheets, valued at a total of Le19,700. The stolen property belonged to Gabba Vandi.

When the charge was read and explained in court, the accused pleaded guilty.

Inspector Aminata Korio, prosecuting, informed the court that the facts were as charged, and there were no previous criminal records against the accused. The prosecution also tendered the accused’s voluntary caution statement and charge statement as evidence.

Kamara, who was not legally represented, pleaded for leniency, asking the court to temper justice with mercy.

Taking into consideration the guilty plea and the absence of previous convictions, Magistrate Samura sentenced Ibrahim Kamara to eight months imprisonment at the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown.
