Bike Rider Remanded for Alleged Mobile Phone Theft

Mohamed Kamara, a 22-year-old commercial bike rider, made his first appearance before Magistrate Mary Julian Gbloh at Pademba Road Magistrate Court No. 5 in Freetown. He is facing a charge of larceny contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916.

According to the particulars of the offense, on Tuesday, 24th June 2025, at the Central Police Station on Wallace Johnson Street in the Western Area of Freetown, the accused allegedly stole, by trick, one maroon Vanvo mobile phone valued at Six Hundred Leones (Le600). The phone is the property of Emmanuel Thomas.

When the charge was read and explained to the accused, no plea was taken.

Prosecutor Sergeant 5598 Santigie Koroma requested an adjournment to prepare and lead his witness in the matter.

Magistrate Gbloh denied bail and ordered that the accused be remanded at the Male Correctional Centre in Freetown. The matter was adjourned to 8th July 2025 for further proceedings.
