The Steering Committee of the National Anti-Corruption Strategy (NACS) 2024–2028 held its inaugural meeting today, Monday, 30th June, at the Office of the Vice President. This marks a significant milestone in Sierra Leone’s renewed efforts to combat corruption.
The session was hosted by the Minister of State, Hon. Manty Tarawallie, and brought together representatives from various sectors, including the public service, civil society organizations, the Sierra Leone Chamber of Commerce, and other key institutions.
The Committee has been tasked with overseeing the effective implementation of the NACS the country’s primary framework guiding anti-corruption efforts over the next five years.
In his opening remarks, the Deputy Commissioner of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), Mr. Augustine Foday Ngobie, emphasized the strategic importance of the NACS and reiterated the vital roles of coordination and oversight assigned to the Steering Committee.
“The National Anti-Corruption Strategy is not just a document—it is our national commitment to good governance, integrity, and accountability,” Mr. Ngobie stated. He underscored the necessity of collective action across all sectors to achieve the goals outlined in the strategy.
The meeting included a comprehensive review of the 2025 Implementation Work Plan, discussions on the evolution and priorities of the NACS, and the adoption of key resolutions to guide the Committee’s future operations.
The Steering Committee is expected to play a central role in mobilizing nationwide efforts, fostering collaboration among stakeholders, and maintaining momentum in Sierra Leone’s fight against corruption.
With the 2024–2028 Strategy outlining an ambitious roadmap, today’s meeting signals a strong institutional commitment to transparency and ethical governance, with a focus on ensuring progress that is both measurable and sustainable.
