Ministry of Gender and Children’s Affairs Bids Farewell to Chief Director

The Ministry of Gender and Children’s Affairs (MoGCA), in a heartfelt ceremony held at its headquarters in Freetown, officially bade farewell to Hon. Chief Director Joseph Sunday Sinnah in recognition of his dedicated service and remarkable leadership.

The event was attended by prominent figures from the ministry, its partners, and civil society organizations, including Minister of Gender and Children’s Affairs Dr. Isata Mahoi, Permanent Secretary Aminata Y. Sannoh, Deputy Minister Hon. Hindowa Bindi, Deputy Secretary Andrew A.B. Kamara, Deputy Chief Director Charles Vandi, as well as directors, assistant directors, and senior protection officers. Representatives from the Women’s Forum Network, the National Commission for Children (NCC), and the Children’s Forum Network (CFN) also participated.

Deputy Secretary Andrew A.B. Kamara opened the program, welcoming attendees and setting a reflective tone for the occasion.

In her moving tribute, CFN President Philipa Cride-Dole described Sinnah as “a man of zest and relentless drive,” highlighting his unwavering commitment to children’s welfare. She praised his legacy of challenging injustice and elevating children’s issues throughout his tenure.

A representative from the Women’s Forum commended Sinnah for his strong support of women and children, while NCC Deputy Commissioner Henry Sheku acknowledged his “steadfast and unmovable” dedication to promoting children’s affairs.

Deputy Minister Hon. Hindowa Bindi shared his positive working relationship with Sinnah, calling him “a brother and a true servant of the ministry,” and praised his motivational spirit and warmth since taking office.

Permanent Secretary Aminata Y. Sannoh acknowledged Sinnah’s invaluable experience and collaborative efforts dating back to the ministry’s earlier days under social welfare, wishing him a rewarding future.

In her keynote remarks, Minister Dr. Isata Mahoi paid glowing tribute to Sinnah’s tireless commitment to public service, stating, “He has dedicated his lifetime to serving this ministry with passion and resilience, even during difficult times.” She affirmed that Sinnah remains a trusted advisor whose wisdom will continue to guide the ministry.

The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks from the Director of Children’s Affairs, followed by a group photograph of ministry officials, partners, friends, and Sinnah’s family capturing a moment of appreciation, unity, and sincere farewell.
