Accountant at Online Sierra Leone Limited Narrates Ordeals in Court

Twenty-two-year-old Alpha Kamara, a master craft designer; eighteen-year-old Siaka Kanneh; thirty-one-year-old Alfred Ndapi, a master craft designer; and thirty-five-year-old Mamajah Bah, a blacksmith, appeared before Magistrate Augustine Brima Samura of Pademba Road Court No. 8 in Freetown. They are charged with three counts: conspiracy contrary to law, larceny contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act 1916, and receiving stolen goods contrary to Section 33(1) of the Larceny Act 1916.

According to the particulars of the offense, on Saturday, 31st May 2025, at Mambo Main Peninsula Road, Goderich, in the Western Area of Freetown, the accused conspired with others unknown to commit a felony—namely, larceny.

Count two states that on the same date and location, the accused persons stole six rolls of 1.5mm twin cables, three rolls of 2.5mm twin cables, two rolls of 4mm twin cables, and other assorted items, with a total value of fifty-nine thousand three hundred fifty Leones (NLe59,350), property of Noah Dauda Dabenie.

Count three states that on the same date and location, the fourth accused person received the stolen property specifically, six rolls of 1.5mm twin cables, three rolls of 2.5mm twin cables, and other assorted items—knowing them to be stolen, with a total value of NLe59,350, property of Noah Dauda Dabenie.

When the charges were read and explained to the accused persons, they pleaded not guilty.

Prosecutor Inspector Aminata Korio called the first witness, Noah Dauda Dabenie, an accountant working for Online Sierra Leone Limited. He recognized all the accused persons through Mohamed Kallon involved in the matter. He recalled that on 31st May 2025, there was a transfer involving himself and the accused persons.

The prosecution then requested a short adjournment to allow for proper consultation with their witness.

Magistrate Samura refused bail, citing the seriousness of the offenses charged, and remanded the accused persons to the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown. The matter was adjourned to July 3rd, 2025.
