The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC), has on Tuesday, June 24, 2025 announced the assumption of investigations from the Sierra Leone Police (SLP), over alleged “Diversion of Public Funds” by some staff of the National Revenue Authority (NRA), into different accounts, not belonging to the NRA.
The release, from the Commission strongly indicated that — it has taken full blow blown investigations from SLP, essentially, in the bid to clamp-down on all those who are allegedly involved into the act of diverting “public funds” meant to go into the Consolidated Revenue Fund (CRF) for national development activities, into their own personal pockets.
The anti-graft body has sternly informed the necessary persons, and institutions, including the National Revenue Authority, Commercial Banks, Tax Payers, Clearing and Forwarding Agencies etc., to fully cooperate with the ACC in the bid to expedite the investigation process; adding that, failure on the part of all those involved in the funds diversion syndicate would be “arrested and detained” with no recourse to the law.
The release from the Commission, noted further that, if anyone interferes in the investigations, the individual or institution will face the full force of the law, pursuant to the Anti-Corruption Act of 2008, as amended in 2019 — an act which prescribes “severe penalties” in the bid the persons involved in the alleged corruption matter try to meddle with the crux of the matter.
The Commission firmly assures the general public to rest assured that, all those who would be found guilty of diverting public funds meant to go into the coffers of the National Revenue Authority for the public’s good will face the consequences.
