A commercial motorbike rider identified as Lamin was brutally murdered by three unknown men attempting to steal his motorbike in Louma Town, Kenema District.
An eyewitness reported that on the evening of June 15th, 2025, around 7 PM, three unidentified men who traded in Chinese medicines hired the deceased to take them from Louma Town to the next town after concluding their day’s business. Mid-journey, the men stopped the rider and attacked him. During the struggle, they overpowered Lamin and slit his throat with a knife.
The witness stated the attack was so violent that Lamin was partially beheaded, and the assailants’ knife broke during the assault. Immediately after killing the rider, another commercial motorbike rider coincidentally arrived at the scene. The attackers fled into a nearby bush, abandoning their bags of Chinese medicines, a BP machine, personal documents, and the motorbike they had tried to steal.
The eyewitness emphasized that Lamin had no prior acquaintance or business with the assailants. They likely killed him solely to steal the motorbike, which he had purchased less than a month earlier. Described as a humble, respectful, and friendly young man, Lamin is survived by his wife (who is eight months pregnant) and at least two children.
Juana Bockarie, the deceased’s biological uncle, revealed that Lamin bought the motorbike with earnings from his regular sales. Bockarie learned of his nephew’s murder just two weeks later while in his home village of Nekadoe, when his daughter Maasah called him with the tragic news.
“The men could have just taken the bike without killing my nephew,” Bockarie lamented.
Lamin’s remains have been taken to Kenema Government Hospital mortuary for a postmortem examination. Police are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding his brutal murder.
