Motorbike Rider Sentenced to Ten Months Imprisonment

Thirty-eight-year-old Ibrahim Sowa, a motorbike rider, appeared before Magistrate Augustine Brima Samura at Pademba Road Court No. 4 in Freetown. He was charged with fraudulent conversion contrary to Section 20(i)(iv)(a) of the Larceny Act 1916.

According to the particulars of the offence, on Saturday, 26th May 2024, at Wallace Johnson Street in the Western Area of Freetown, Ibrahim Sowa fraudulently converted to his own use a blue Star TVS motorbike with registration number AVR 659. The motorbike, valued at twenty-one thousand Leones (Le 21,000), was entrusted to him by Emmanuel Davies for safekeeping on behalf of Mohamed J. Kamara.

When the charge was read and explained to the accused, he pleaded guilty.

The voluntary caution statement and charge statement were produced and tendered as exhibits A1-7 and B1-3 respectively. The Magistrate considered the file based on the offences charged.

Magistrate Samura sentenced Ibrahim Sowa to ten months imprisonment at the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown. Sergeant 1306 Augusta B. Sesay prosecuted the case.
