The Deputy Director of Education in the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education in Bo District J M. B Sesay has said that they discovered shortage and inadequacies in the first question Paper (Quantitative) in the National Primary School Examination in Bo District.

Speaking to this medium at one of the Examination Centers (ST Theresa Junior Secondary) in Bo, Mr J M. B Sesay said that he monitored the examination, and it went on well except that in some schools including (Kate Margaret School in Bo) inadequate question papers were noticed in the first paper but it was later addressed.

He explained that there was supplementary question papers, which was later given to the affected pupils, even though they started late for the first paper.

He however noted that all the remaining question papers were complete and intact.

Mr. Sesay said that the NPSE examination was successfully conducted in Bo District, whiles adding that they do not allow the parents within the center to disturb the pupils.

He reacted to the concerns of some of the invigilators at Methodist High School in Bo, who claimed that they were not given lunch by the West Africa Examination Council (WAEC), but Mr. Sesay said that he was given money to give to some invigilators.

Police officers and civil society activist who were deployed at some centers said that there was no report of examination malpractice.

However, civil society activists raised grave concern over the inadequacies in the first paper and called on WAEC to properly check the question papers before they are released so that the pupils will not suffer.

Some pupils of this Year’s NPSE said that even though some of the questions were difficult to answer, especially the Quantitative and Mathematics they were able to answer within their understanding.

“We want to thank President Bio for introducing the Free and quality education, which we have benefitted from and we would make sure that we do well in the NPSE examination” One of the pupil said.
