Under the theme “Aligning with Global Trends for Development,”* the Corner Stone Computer Training Centre in Kono District hosted its second graduation ceremony, celebrating the academic achievements of the 2024 and 2025 cohorts. The event, held at the Sahr Musa Sessie Gbenda Hall on Bona Street in Koidu City, marked a milestone for at least forty graduates who completed their computer literacy training.
Speaking to our correspondent at the ceremony, the Centre Manager, Edmond Bockarie Sannoh, expressed deep gratitude to God for His continuous blessings and extended thanks to the Chief Executive Officer of the Centre for his commitment to developing Kono District through digital education. Sannoh described the initiative as a meaningful way of giving back to society.
He further commended the relentless efforts of the instructors, the dedication of the graduates, and the support of their parents. Sannoh acknowledged the trust placed in Corner Stone over other training institutions in the district, noting that the Centre offers vital community services such as typing, printing, photocopying, and foundational IT training.
Encouraging the wider community to take advantage of these services, he emphasized the Centre’s commitment to providing digital skills at minimal cost to help individuals navigate the modern world.
Addressing some of the challenges the Centre faces, Manager Sannoh highlighted the lack of adequate space to accommodate students and the need for improved facilities. He appealed to the local authorities in Kono District to support the Centre’s expansion by allocating land, adding that the CEO is prepared to invest in building more advanced facilities to benefit the entire district.
Delivering the keynote address, Edison Aiah Morsay described the graduation as a stepping stone to greatness. He emphasized that the knowledge acquired by the students, if applied wisely, could transform their lives and serve as a powerful tool against poverty.
“Be like the two servants who made good use of the talents given to them,” Morsay urged, referencing a biblical parable. “Do not be like the one who failed to use his talent wisely to his own detriment.”
He reminded the graduates that a certificate is merely a piece of paper unless backed by hard work, determination, and resilience qualities that can turn it into a symbol of hope and success. Morsay also stressed the global importance of computer literacy, noting that in today’s digital age, computer skills are no longer optional. Without such knowledge, individuals risk missing opportunities, regardless of their academic qualifications.
Speaking on behalf of the graduates, Ruth Biango expressed heartfelt thanks to the instructors and staff for their dedication and the knowledge they imparted. Reflecting on the group’s journey, she noted that their time at Corner Stone was not just about learning computer skills, but also about building confidence, discipline, and ambition.
“We are now equipped with skills that will not only help us personally, but will also contribute to the development of our community and country,” she said. Biango encouraged her fellow graduates to continue seeking knowledge that will further transform their lives and positively impact society.
