In a significant recognition of his unwavering commitment to anti-corruption, Sierra Leone’s Anti-Corruption Commissioner, Francis Ben Kaifala, has been named among the “100 Most Influential Young Africans” for 2025. The honor, conferred by the Pan African Youth Leadership Foundation, celebrates young leaders making meaningful impacts across the continent.
Kaifala was selected as part of the Foundation’s esteemed League of Exceptionals 2025, an annual list that acknowledges young Africans who are shaping the future through innovation, activism, and leadership. The announcement comes amid a rising call for transparency and accountability across African governments—an area in which Kaifala has emerged as a strong advocate and role model.
“I am truly honored to be recognized among such remarkable individuals,” Kaifala said in response to the recognition. “This acknowledgment is a collective achievement that underscores the importance of integrity and accountability in leadership.”
The Pan African Youth Leadership Foundation received nearly 5,000 nominations from 52 African countries. The final selection followed a rigorous vetting process to ensure a diverse and impactful group of honorees. This year’s list reflects a nearly equal gender balance, with 51% male and 49% female honorees—an encouraging shift that signals growing female representation in leadership across the continent.
Kaifala’s inclusion in the 2025 list not only marks a personal milestone but also serves as a symbol of a broader continental movement to empower young changemakers. The honorees represent various sectors including entrepreneurship, social justice, public service, and environmental activism—highlighting the diverse roles African youth are playing in building a better future.
In a heartfelt message to his fellow awardees, Kaifala said, “Your outstanding achievements continue to inspire and drive change across the continent and beyond.” His recognition follows in the footsteps of other prominent African leaders, including His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio, who has previously been acknowledged by Forbes among exceptional global leaders.
