Ing. Lovetta Mammy, Acting Station Manager of SALWACO in Lungi, Kaffu Bullom Chiefdom, Port Loko District, North-West Region, has announced significant improvements in the water supply within the region.
Speaking in response to concerns about the stability of the water supply, Ing. Mammy highlighted that water service has now been restored in all three zones of the Chiefdom. She explained that Zone One is covered by Tintafor, while the old Airport & Perimeter area constitutes Zone Two. SALWACO provides water to each area twice a week.
Ing. Mammy also mentioned recent maintenance work at both the Suctarr Pumping Station and the Garrison Barracks. While water is available in tanks, she acknowledged a pipeline issue but assured the public that SALWACO management has been informed and is working to resolve it.
Addressing challenges, she pointed out that the asbestos pipes, which are now aging, require repairs. However, she noted that many areas have DI pipes, which are in better condition, and urged the replication of this infrastructure in other areas.
The Acting Station Manager reaffirmed SALWACO’s commitment to improving water supply across all areas of operation, in line with the institution’s mission and vision. She also encouraged customers to pay for services promptly to ensure the company can meet its targets efficiently.
