The Honourable Member of Parliament representing constituency 028 under the coalition for change (C4C) Hon. Sahr Charles has told this medium that members of parliament for the C4C are divided in the well of parliament, five against three.
Hon. Charles made the statement in a telephone interview with this medium because of C4C menbers decision to walk out of parliament during the state opening address by President Bio in the fourth session of the fifth parliament in the second Republic of Sierra Leone on Tuesday 18th May, 2021.
According to Hon. Sahr Charles, Hon. Saa Emerson Lamina, Hon. Rebecca Yei Kamara and Hon. Musa Fofanah are working collaboratively as against the five of them that walked out of parliament owing to the disrespectful way and manner in which their national chairman Tamba Richard Sandi was treated during the aforementioned state function by the president.
He pointed out that over eight to ten months now the speaker of parliament has deliberately refused to accept the decision of their party that is the legitimate leadership of the C4C in the well of parliament who is Hon. Sahr Francis Bendu. He said the speaker of parliament and the SLPP leadership are seriously enjoying the division among them, owing to the fact that Hon. Lamina whom they recognize as the caucus leader for the C4C is always working to protect and promote the interest of the SLPP. “As Parliament deals with number, we are very optimistic that the victory is ours” Hon. Sahr Charles maintained.
He therefore implored the speaker of parliament Dr. Abass Bundu to do the needful if parliament is to be on a sound footing with the full participation of every Member of Parliament.
