Sierra Leone’s national football team, the Leone Stars, narrowly lost to Egypt 1-0 in the World Cup Qualifiers on Match Day 6 at the Cairo International Stadium in Egypt.
Egypt dominated the first half of the match, taking the lead just before the break. In the 45+2 minutes of added time, Zizo capitalized on a perfectly timed assist from Trezeguet, sliding the ball past Sierra Leone’s defense and giving Egypt a 1-0 lead as their fans erupted in celebration.
The Egyptians controlled the tempo with precise passing and strategic positioning throughout the opening period. Despite this, Sierra Leone fought back, creating some chances of their own. One of the closest moments came when Kei Kamara narrowly missed scoring, as he connected with a dangerous cross whipped in by Samadi. After the match, Leone Stars head coach Mohamed Kallon praised his team’s performance despite the narrow defeat. Kallon also noted that, although Zizo’s goal in added time secured the win for Egypt, the Leone Stars’ determination throughout the match reflected their growth and potential.
