The Kono Tribal Administration in the Western Area has expressed deep appreciation to Inspector General of Police (IGP) William Fayia Sellu for recommending their son, Sahr Yomba Senesi, as the new Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the Sierra Leone Police (SLP).

During a courtesy visit to Police Headquarters on Tuesday, a delegation of Kono tribal leaders, led by Chief Komba Mani, commended IGP Sellu for his role in the appointment and described DIG Senesi’s promotion as a moment of pride for the Kono community. They assured the SLP of their unwavering support for national peace and security.

In response, IGP Sellu welcomed the delegation and thanked them for their visit. He emphasised that DIG Senesi’s appointment was based on merit, seniority, and his exemplary track record within the police force. He underscored the importance of dedication and hard work, noting that officers who distinguish themselves through service will be recognised and rewarded.

He also encouraged all police personnel to remain committed to their duties, highlighting that the promotion of DIG Senesi should serve as motivation for others within the force to uphold professionalism and integrity.

Addressing the gathering, DIG Senesi expressed profound gratitude to IGP Sellu for his strong endorsement and thanked the Kono community for their unwavering support. He also extended his appreciation to President Julius Maada Bio, Vice President Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, and Minister of Internal Affairs Morie Lengor for entrusting him with the role.

DIG Senesi pledged to serve with diligence, integrity, and loyalty under IGP Sellu’s leadership. He assured the delegation that he would work tirelessly to strengthen the operations of the Sierra Leone Police and uphold the trust placed in him.

The meeting concluded with a prayer session led by Archbishop Edward Tamba Charles, who invoked divine blessings for DIG Senesi as he assumes his new role. The Archbishop commended IGP Sellu for his leadership and commitment to excellence within the SLP, urging DIG Senesi to remain humble, cooperative, and dedicated to teamwork.

The visit reinforced a spirit of solidarity between the Kono community and the Sierra Leone Police, reaffirming their shared commitment to fostering national stability and effective law enforcement.
