The New Gambian High Commissioner to the Republic of Sierra Leone, Allieu K. Jammeh has paid a courtesy visit to the Minister of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, Dr. Memunatu Pratt at her office in Freetown on the 25th may 2021.
The high commissioner said the purpose of the visit is to introduce themselves to the Minister as they are very new to Sierra Leone and also to see how the Ministry of Tourism in the Gambia and that of Sierra Leone will collaborate in the areas of sharing knowledge and expertise and promoting exchange visit between the two countries.
He stated that Gambia has been in tourism development for more than 60 years and they have learned lot of things within that period. He said he has seen lot of tourism potentials in Sierra Leone that can be harnessed and assured that with the collaboration between the two countries, the benefits will be mutual.
Minister Pratt in her remarks welcomed the High Commissioner and his team to Sierra Leone while assuring them of the Ministry’s cooperation in strengthening the relationship between the two countries.
Dr. pratt stated that the two countries have a stronger bond when its comes to tourism as they are both part of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and mostly Gambia and Sierra Leone represent West Africa in a number of international and regional bodies and programmes on tourism.
She added that now that Tourism has kicked off in Sierra Leone, the Gambia is looking forward to a very stronger cooperation in order to address the development of tourism across the sub-region.
