President of Sierra Leone, H.E. Julius Maada Bio has welcomed Lieutenant General Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan, President of the Transitional Sovereign Council of the Republic of Sudan, for discussions centered on peace and security in Sudan and the broader region on 13th January 2025 at State House in Freetown.
The two leaders engaged in meaningful dialogue that seeks to addressing the ongoing conflict in Sudan.
President Bio emphasized Sierra Leone’s steadfast dedication to achieving a peaceful resolution, highlighting the nation’s role as a member of both the UN Security Council and the African Union Peace and Security Council.
The discussions underscored the urgent need for collaborative efforts to restore stability and security in Sudan, a country currently facing significant humanitarian challenges.
By engaging with General Al-Burhan, President Bio aims to support initiatives that could lead to a cessation of hostilities and pave the way for a peaceful transition in Sudan.
Sierra Leone’s commitment to peacekeeping and conflict resolution in the region positions the nation as an important player in addressing the complexities of the Sudanese crisis.
