In a bid to improve coordination and enhance the operations of the National Federation of Farmers Sierra Leone (NaFFSL) in Kailahun, Karene, and Falaba districts, the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Dr. Henry Musa Kpaka, presented three TVS motorbikes to the Federation during the closing ceremony of the two-day Salone Civic Festival.

The event, held at the Miatta Conference Centre, Youyi Building, was organized by the Ministry of Information and Civic Education (MoICE) under the theme “Salone Big Pass Wi All”.

The motorbikes, provided by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), were received by NaFFSL President Madam Yatta Sama, who expressed gratitude for the support. Speaking during the presentation, Dr. Kpaka acknowledged NaFFSL’s vital contribution to the success of the government’s #flagship Feed Salone Programme, spearheaded by President Dr. Julius Maada Bio.

“These bikes will empower NaFFSL district executives to reach farmers in remote areas with key messages about the Feed Salone agenda and their critical role in its implementation,” Dr. Kpaka stated.

In her response, Madam Yatta Sama thanked both the Ministry of Agriculture and FAO for the timely intervention, emphasizing that the bikes would significantly boost the Federation’s ability to mobilize, coordinate, and disseminate essential information aligned with the Feed Salone blueprint.

Representatives from the three beneficiary districts expressed their appreciation, pledging to use the motorbikes effectively to enhance coordination and support farmers in their respective regions.

Madam Kadija Bangura, the NaFFSL Bombali District Coordinator, appealed to FAO and the Ministry for similar support in other districts, emphasizing the importance of such resources in promoting efficiency, effectiveness, and sustainability across the Federation.

The Salone Civic Festival, spearheaded by MoICE, aimed to foster national unity, shared responsibility, and sustainable development. The event marked its debut this year, with President Bio formally launching the initiative as part of efforts to strengthen civic education and collective progress in Sierra Leone.
