To match up with international standards and the forthcoming Leone Rock Premier League, under the leadership of the hardworking Chairman, Mr Abdul Karim Kabia, the executive of the Western Area Football Referees Association (WAFRA ) has successfully concluded two (2) day refresher course for its members in the Western Region (Urban and Rural Districts ) with the theme “Uniformity In Applying The Laws Of The Game”.
The course was conducted on the 10th and 11th of December 2024 at the Ahmadiyya Muslim Secondary School, Freetown. A total of Seventy-One (71) referees from all categories (classes elites,1,2 and 3) and Eleven (11) local instructors/assessors participated in this year refresher course. Referees and instructors/assessors were lectured on the 2024/25 New Law Changes, Reading and Positioning, Penalty Area Incidents, Modern Refereeing, Challenges, Hand Ball, Offside, and Game Management. Examination was conducted at the end of the course for all participants.
The chairman and his executive wish to thanks and appreciate the following dignitaries for their tremendous work in facilitating and conducting the exam: President and FIFA Instructor/Assessor Mr Sanusie Rashid, Referees Manager and Former FIFA Referee Franklyn A.F. Marah, Referees Committee Secretary and Former FIFA Referee Alhaji Dawdu Williams and Instructor/Assessor and Former FIFA Referee Alhaji Rahim Sanusie. They are the backbone in impacting knowledge in referees in Sierra Leone.
The executive also thanks the management and staff of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Secondary School for giving us access to use their school hall and other facilities. We also acknowledge all those that assisted us in differ ways for the course to be successful.
Participants are thanks for their efforts and good performance during the course. They are also advised to implement the Laws of the Game.
