The Leader of the Coalition for Change Party (C4C) Saa Emerson Lamina has just after the state opening address by the President commended the president for making an affirmative statement on the construction of the Kono University this year.
Talking to journalists after the formal opening session, Hon. Emerson Lamina also confessed that for the president to have an intention of building water facility for the people of Kono is also very welcoming news. He added that he has seen most of the President’s previous state opening speech being translated into reality and there believed that the Kono University project and the water facility for the people of Kono will surely come to fruition.
As a member on oversight on road construction, Emerson Lamina also acknowledged that there are massive road constructions on feeder roads across all the 22 localities otherwise known as councils.
Hon. Emerson Lamina further noted that before this time, Mayors and Chairpersons of Local Councils were not paid salaries “but today Mayors and Chairpersons of local councils are now paid by government…”
He said that the payment of salaries to Mayors and Chairpersons was a pronouncement made by President Bio less than two years back and it has been implemented to the fullest.
He added that Water has been one of the felt needs of the people of Kono and they have suffered for over forty years since mining destroyed water facility in Kono. He therefore said upon hearing the news from President Bio to provide water facility to the people of Kono gives a great hope to the people of Kono.
“I am very satisfied and well pleased with the speech delivered by the President because it gives hope to not only people of Kono, but the entire nation as a whole”, he concluded.
