Alleged Cyber Bulling: Bench Warrant Issued for Accused Person

In an ongoing Cyber Bullying Trial, before Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Pademba Road Court No. 1 in Freetown has issued bench warrant for accused person because of his absence in court.

The accused person is charged with a count of Cyber Stalking and Cyber Bullying contrary to section 44(1) (a) of the Cyber Security Act 2021.

According to the charge sheet, the accused person on Saturday 29th June, 2024, in Freetown sent a voice message through social media via WhatsApp, did use WhatsApp account number 078383131 with title Dura Sapateh Fofana created and posted Bullied text messages by means of computer system or network in a bid to bully Dr. Brian Conton of 79 Smart Farm Wilkinson Road Freetown that may likely lower his estimation among right thinking members of the society.

The prosecutor Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Juan M.S Bull announced her representation for the state. However, due to the fact that the accused person Dura Sapateh Fofana was not in court she applied for bench warrant against the accused.

Magistrate Kekura granted the application and issued bench warrant for the accused person and surety or sureties respectively.

Meanwhile, the matter was adjourned to the 13th of December 2024.
