As the qualifying campaign for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco reaches its final stages, the stage is set for a thrilling Matchday 6 showdown across the continent.
Teams from all corners of Africa will face off in a series of decisive clashes, each vying for supremacy and a place at the prestigious tournament.
One particular match that will be of great interest to the Sierra Leonean audience is the encounter between Sierra Leone and Zambia in Group G. While not a critical match in terms of qualification, the local fans will undoubtedly be eager to see their national team perform well and potentially secure a victory against their group rivals.
Elsewhere, the focus shifts to the more high-stakes battles, such as the Group H clash between DR Congo and Ethiopia and the Tanzania-Guinea encounter. South Africa will lock horns with South Sudan in Group I, while Congo and Uganda battle it out in a separate Group I match.
The action continues in Group K, where Mali will host Eswatini. In Group K, Guinea-Bissau will take on Mozambique. The day’s proceedings will be capped off with a tantalizing Group L encounter between Senegal and Burundi.
In another lens, many teams have made it thus far for qualifications. Familiar names such as Morocco, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Algeria, DR Congo, and Senegal have already booked tickets to the AFCON finals.
Joining them are other regional heavyweights like Egypt, Côte d’Ivoire, South Africa, Tunisia, and Nigeria, all eager to make their mark on the continental stage. Newcomers like Equatorial Guinea and Comoros have also earned the right to compete alongside the continent’s elite.
As the qualifiers draw to a close, the attention now turns to the final three teams still vying for the remaining spots.
