Twenty-five-year-old Augustine Dassama, a Masoner, has been sentenced to 36 months in prison in the male correctional facility by magistrate Mamakoh Saio Kallon of Pademba Road Court No.5 in Freetown on a count of Fraudulent Conversion Contrary to Section 20 (1) (iv) (a) of the Larceny Act of 1916.
According to the particulars of the offense on Saturday, the 9th November 2024, at Leicester, the mountain rural district of the western area in Freetown, Fraudulently converted to his own use or benefit certain property that is to say, two fill set L.G Air conditioners, one indoor Air conditioner, one 10000 Watts stabilizer, one Money counting machine and other assorted items equivalent to the total value of sixty-five thousand three hundred and twenty-five Leones(65,325) entrusted to him by Jane Bewoh for safekeeping.
When the charge was read and explained to the accused, he pleaded guilty.
The prosecutor, Sergeant 5598 Santigie Koroma, told the Magistrate that there were no previous criminal records against the accused person.
The accused person was not legally represented, and he pleaded with the magistrate to temper justice with mercy on his behalf.
Due to the plea mitigation by the accused person, and the fact he did not waste the court time, magistrate Kallon sentenced him to thirty-six months imprisonment at the male correctional facility in Freetown.
