In his closing remarks, Hon. Conteh noted, “I did not have the chance and the opportunity to lend my voice to this debate, but I have enjoyed the opportunity to preside, and I want to thank Honourable Members of this House for dedicating me to this position.”

Emphasizing the gravity of his role, he reflected on the importance of selecting voices among the parliamentarians to discuss matters of national interest, adding, “You granted me the sacred opportunity of selecting from among my colleagues to speak to issues as sensitive as this.”

The Acting Speaker commended the leadership of the House for their progressive approach to parliamentary discourse. He emphasized that such strides must be sustained and expanded, underscoring the need for greater accountability among officials. “This is what democracy requires—people need to answer for what they have been given responsibility for,” he stated. “We started it today, and we must move it forward. We must work together as a House.”

In a moment of reflection on the essence of parliamentary work, Hon. Conteh called for unity amid the political diversity of the chamber. He encouraged his fellow Members of Parliament to maintain the spirit of camaraderie, regardless of differences in political perspective. “Let us work together to build Sierra Leone,” he urged. “Let us continue in our different shape of opinions and let our interest be for Sierra Leone, and for Sierra Leone.”

With this stirring statement, Hon. Ibrahim Tawa Conteh reinforced the ideals of democracy, collaboration, and national interest, resonating with citizens and parliamentarians alike. His message concluded with sincere appreciation: “Thank you very much, and I appreciate your opportunity bestowed upon me.”
