Twenty-five-years-old Alie Marrah, unemployed, made his first appearance before Magistrate Hadiru K Daboh of Kabala Magistrate Court on a count of Larceny contrary to section 2 of the Larceny Act 1916.
According to the particulars of the offense on Sunday, 13th October 2024, along Koinadugu Bilmaia Kabala in the Wara Wara Yagda District, the Northern province in Freetown did steal two electricity distribution and supply cables properly of the said Electricity distribution supply.
When the charge was read and explained to the accused, he pleaded guilty.
The prosecutor, Sergeant 3435 Kargbo S, told the bench that there were no previous criminal records against the accused person.
Counsel representing the accused person, A.S Farsh Esq, pleaded with the magistrate to temper justice with mercy on behalf of the accused person, who is a family caregiver. He has learned his lesson and will not repeat such an act again.
Due to the plea mitigation by the defense counsel and the accused person’s not wasting the court time, magistrate Daboh sentenced him to two years imprisonment in the male correctional facility in Freetown.
