The media officer attached to the Motema Police Divisional Headquarters in Nimikoro Chiefdom Kono District, Thompson Peter Ndapi, said the issue of murder has become prevalent in Sandor Chiefdom Kono District.

He stated that Sandor Chiefdom, which happens to be the largest chiefdom in the country with at least nine sections, has recently recorded the highest number of murder cases despite numerous police interventions through community and stakeholders’ awareness and sensitization sessions.

Thompson Peter Ndapi made the said statement owing to the current investigation by the Criminal Investigations Department of the Motema police division into the death of a thirty-five-year-old man, Tamba Osman Alie Jawara of Bayawandu village in Sandor chiefdom whose decomposed remains were found in a plantation garden or Bush.

According to the media officer at Motema police division, on Thursday, 31st October 2024, at around 4 pm, one Thereza Sam of the above-mentioned village reported at the Motema police division that on the 30th of October 2024 at about 8 pm, his son, the deceased was found dead lying in his plantation Bush at Bayawandu village.

Meanwhile, the Motema media police intimated to this medium that police investigations into the matter had made the following revelations: The deceased left his home on Tuesday 29th, October 2024, and Thursday, 31st October 2024, his remains were found in his plantation garden with multiple of gunshot wounds.

He added that the deceased was in dispute with one Fengai Gbanga of the same village because of the land boundary. However, the remains of the deceased have been conveyed to the Koidu Government Hospital mortuary awaiting post-mortem examination, whilst the investigation team of the alleged murder matter headed by D/DSP Sylvanus Songu has requested a presumption examination on the remains of the thirty-year-old Tamba Osman Alie Jawara with expert opinion to enhance a speedy conclusion of the said police investigation.

He conveyed a consolation message to the deceased family members to take heart and keep the faith, as God is the giver of life. ” He gives and takes,” the chief judge, Mr Ndapi, stressed. He, on behalf of the Sierra Leone police force Motema division, assured all and sundry professionals investigating the said matter for the sake of justice.
